CMA Music Teachers of Excellence is part of an intentional effort to support quality teaching in music education throughout the country. Designed to celebrate teaching excellence, the award will recognize up to 10 teachers in a public recognition event and include a cash award of $2,500 for THE TEACHER AND AN ADDITIONAL $2,500 FOR EACH TEACHER’S SCHOOL MUSIC PROGRAM.
Funded by the CMA Foundation, the award aims to honor music teachers who are committed to quality and innovative approaches in the classroom. These individuals are constantly going above and beyond to influence and support their communities through music.
Teachers with a score of 3+ on the 2017 Compass Level of Effectiveness are eligible to apply. Teachers who are new to the district or who have not completed a 2017 Compass Level of Effectiveness are not eligible to apply.
Criteria for Selection:
• 2017 Compass Level of Effectiveness
• Evidence of teaching excellence
• Positive contributions to school culture
• Evidence of continued professional growth
• Impact on student learning
• Evidence of advocating for music education
All applications must be submitted electronically by February 16, at 11:59 pm. A completed application will include an informational profile, four narrative responses, a current resume, a letter of recommendation from your principal and one video.
